Panama Canal Greenhouse Gas Accounting and Management System successfully delivered
Houston Texas, January 24, 2012 – The Panama Canal can now be a Greener Global Partner thanks to E-ndeavor Program Management, Inc., a Houston-based firm.
The Panama Canal takes the first steps toward a comprehensive CO2 Certification Program with the successful completion of the Greenhouse Gas Model developed by the consortium led by E-ndeavor Program Management, Inc.
After successful completion of the Panama Canal Competitive CO2 Analysis Model that allows the Canal to determine which routes are greener, this expert team led by E-ndeavor Program Management Inc. developed this Greenhouse Gas Analysis Model to give the Panama Canal Authority the insight into their Operational Emissions and the impact of reduction plans such as replacing old equipment and their efforts to mitigate the emissions with projects such as reforestation.
E-ndeavor Program Management, Inc. led the formation of this consortium and acted in the role of program, project and communications manager for the project. Novix, a strategic operations and risk modeling acted as the model builder. TEC Inc. provided the environmental consulting to establish the formulas used in the model.
With the completion of this model, the Panama Canal Authority now has an accounting system to track the emissions against the mitigations and reduction efforts giving a Total Emissions balance. This can be projected over time so a view of future impact can be seen and drive the decisions to be greener. This ability to calculate their own environmental “footprint” can direct their efforts to be a better steward of the region and our planet.
Luis Crespo, Executive of E-ndeavor Program Management states, “This comprehensive model for emissions insight is a valuable addition to the Panama Canal environmental Department’s toolbox and the first steps toward environmental certification.”
